Andrews away from the 'fertile pasture of Makawao and made him senior Captain of the police in Honolulu. "With his well known "bullish" quali fications the Captain has already distinguished himself upon several occasions in his great feat of running blindly against a stone-wall, and he has been followed with more or Jess suc cess in his acrobatio ventures. Last night though he ran into the wrong .shop and ho was consequently run oat of it again. It was at the Pacific Club on Alakea Street about 10:45 p.m. The members of the club were en joying themselves in different ways. Some were handling the cards, some were admiring Joe's at tempt at breaking his back, and turning blue in his face, in his execution of the most fancy shots, and others were talking politics, and telling each other all about what the "contingency arisen" was and other things of similar interest of which none of them knew a blessed thing, when from the back-entrance there appeared the stately figure of the senior Captain in full regalias and escorted by a burly police man (the black horse didn't come in.) There was of cour-so a general consternation among the club members present. Mora beis of corps diplomatic looked for their hats, members of the advisory councif thought about getting under the table, or be hind Joe, naval officers looked for well a cat, while some blasted Britishers looked for a club. After having viewed what he consider ed his legitimate prey the senior Captain stated that ho desired the members of tho club to stop their noise as complaints had reached the Police Station from neighbours names not mention ed. At this stage a bene olont member volunteered a lesson in common 'politeness to the senior Captain, and removed his head-gear with tho remark that senior captains are not sup posed to remain' 'covered" among goutlomon, another member with a legal turn of mind requested to see a warrant, and as the senior captain, as usual, had forgot ten such a trifling document he was firmly, but politely treated like tho candle, he looks like he was put out. To day we un derstand tho marshal will be furnished with some information which he evidently needs, viz: that the Pacific Club is a private house and also with a request to keep his pets confined to their kennel and not let them loose at nights. At about three o'clock this morning, the "Central Union Church Gang" of spies were seen emerging from cover. Official Visits. The charge d'Affaires and Cor-sul-General for Portugal Senhor A de Souza Canavarro, called on Rear Admiral John Irwin, on board of the U. S, F. S. Philadelphia th?s forenoon. Upon leaving the ship, the Representative was accorded the usual Ealate, Mo e I4bel.- Mr. W. G. Smith the editor of the Hawaiian Star, was arrested this a 'lei-noon on a charge ff "libel in the first degree. The article hich a the cause of this suit waa pub lished in the Star on Wednesday the loth insiant. and was headed "Asbford's hard facts," the com plainant in the case, is Mr. C. B Wilson. Mr. Antone Ro3a wi'l assist the prosecution while we suppose that tre 'peofle.s" lawyer Mr, Xiniipy v:Jl handle the defense. Fire at KukuLhaele. The steamer Waialeale which arrived this morning from the Hamakua side of Hawaii, brought news of a fire which occurred at ; the Rnkuihaels Mill on Saturday last. The fire is supposed to have originated under the floor of the boiling house. All the hands worked with a will, and had the fire soon under control and kept to confined it the place where it originated. The damage amounts to about four thousand dollars. In consequence of this accident, work will be suspended for about two weeks, until tho repairs are completed. LOCAL NEWS. Who showed the Captain the door? Who took oft' the Captain's headgear? The P. G. Band plays at Tho mas Square this evening. The Waialeale brought news of a fire at Kukuihaele. The steamer W. G. Hall was reported as 20 miles off, at noon. Remember that tho Hawaiian National Band gives a'concert at San Souci to-morrow evening. So seditious airs were played or sung by the H"awa?:ao National Band at their Musicale last evening- The only newspapers in this city who ha-e been endeavoring, and are still continuing to try to stir up factional tronble here, are the Friend, Advertiser, and tho Star; all organs supporting the present autocratical government. Business men in the neighbor hood of Nuuanu and Kng streets., wore treated to a fine vocal con cert this forenoon. A party of Hawaiians, good natnred and in good humour, were amusing and entertaining themselves singing Hawaiian songs. It is well known, that any at tempt at lawlessness or trouble will not emanate from the Loyalists; so the P. G. gang had better, "mark," "learn" and "inwardly digest" the words, "any attempt made by any per son or persons to make trouble would be promptly checked and punished," and behave them selves accordingly. A gang of twelve P. G- spies were seen coming from their tlace of cover this morning at about four o'clock. They came from Miller Street, where they had been spending the flight. There are Walls in that neigh borhood also. Tho majority of these men are residents of Fow ler's yard. A half N a dozen or mora were recognized. CITY MEAT MARKET Oppo. Queen "Fmnia Hall.
