Willing to .Work.'
'If girls marry the men they love, I
even though they are poor, they
must be willing to wbrk for them,
and thus do their shnre in sustaining
the property of the firm. They
should certainly know how to cook,
and they ought to be ashamed to
marry any such man until they have I
learned the art of cooking, lor such
a girl to marry such a man would be
neither more nor less than a social
fraud, unless sbe shall before en
gagement inform him fully of her
ignorance on this subject. It is well,
then, to have these schools of cook
ery to which girls whoso mothers
have npt taught them the art can go
and learn. And we hope the day is
near at hand when girls that are can
didates for matrimony will prido
themselves more on their ability to
cook a good dinner than on their
ability to dance, sing, play, or waste
time in anjT agreeable way. The
ideal girl, the consumptive, tight-
laced, party-going, piano-playing,
French-talking, fosliionablc girl, can
be no proper wife for a poor man.
This language the girls may think
unkind, but it is- not. It is better
for girls that are not fitted to be a
poor man's wife to remain with their
parents than to become such. Les
lie' Lady's Magazine.
