For tho Honolulu trade, J. D.
Spvcckcls & J3ros., Agcuta for the

steamships for the Honolulu trade.
Their; dimensions will be 320ft. in
length from the forward part of stern

beamf and 2Gft. depth of hblcL Tho
carrying capacity of each will be
2,300 tons dead weight on a draft
not exceeding 20ft., and first-class
accommodations .for 101 cabin,pas

in diameter, 21ft. pitch. The engines
will develop a power equivalent to
2,600 horse-power, and a speed of
14 knots guaranteed. This guar
antee from the Cramps is sufficient
to. ensure rabout 15 A- or over, as their
vessels .have always exceeded their
guarantees. The vessels" will have
cylindrical boilers, two, double and
two single, with 312ft. of grate sur
face j.the shells of the boilers will be
of" iron, and the furnaces of steel.
The coal bunkers will .have a capa
city of COO tons. The csscls will be
supplied with the latest improved
steam windlasses of the Providence
Co., and hteam capstans of the latest
patents. Each vessel will have, two
large and powerful 6team elevators,
oneforward and one -aft, for handl

steering gear will be used, and largo
condenscrsj capable of condensing
2,uuu gallons of -fresh water daily,
will be given to each vessel. The
vessels will have two masts, and be
squareirigged on the fore. It is de
signed to have these vessels first
class in every particular, and no ex
pense will be spared to make them
so. They are totbo constructed un
der the "supervision of the Bureau
Veritas, and particular pains will be
takfn not only to have thorn fast and
ci.Tufortnblc, but also to have them
as strong an the builders can make
them. The passenger accommoda'
tions are intended to be in keeping
with toe other features of the vessel,
and will be first-class in every parti
cular; a grand social nan, a spienuiu
smoking room, a fine library, grand
piaiios, comfortable and elegant
R'stlietlc dining-room, a patent ven
tilator for each state-room, are
amoug'thc uumqrous comforts plun
ned for. As the vessels will be used
principally m the warmth of tho tro
pics, great pains will be taken .with
them to adapt them to tho climate ;
they will be literally tropical vessels.
All , the joiner work on the ships is
contracted to be first-clans. The
' Kpreckcls Bros, have had most
tempting offers from England for
ho bale of steamers for the businasi
of the company ; oud it is to their
credit that after weighing everything
they" havedecided to patronize Am
erican labor and America) mechan
ics and build in the United Slates.
The Oceanic S.S. Company was only
recently incorporated, hut among it'
stockholders nud managers ate men
of the right material, who have en
tered' the business to stay, and being
experts, it is ate to say toot wttri
two such fust vessels as those con
tracted for, and a fleet of awift sail
ing voxels, -tbtt will give eatisfac-
. tion to shippers of freight, travellera
and business men generally.
