The Mayor's Advice
A citizen called recently nt tho
"Water Registrar's office- nnd in
troduced himself nnd his business by
saying, "I'm Misthcr Jerry Muldoon,
nnd I enrrics fifty votes. My cellar
is full of water nnd my bins will be
downed if it isn't fixed: so I want
you to fix it." Mr. Muldoon was
informed that nothing could be done
for him there, when ho again re
marked, "I carries fifty votes, d'yo
moind, and I want tho water out of
my cellnr." "But wo havo nothing
to do with such matters," said the
official "you should employ a plum
ber to attend to it, Mr. Muldoon."
This suggestion did not appear to
strike tho caller favorable, for he
ngain declared, "I want you to
understand that I carries fifty voles
fifty votes, you soc and I want
vou to fix my cellar. Tho water is
in it and my hins will bo drowned if
it isn't cot out." There was some
further conversation of this kind,
and Mr. Muldoon was finally recom
mended to sec the Mayor in regard
td tho cellar, when he departed.
Two or three days later ho reap
peared. "I come again to sec about
that collar," said he; "I'm Misthcr
Muldoon you know, and I carries
fifty votes. My cellar's worse than
over." "But wo told you tho other
day, Mr. Muldoon, that wo can do
nothing about it here." "Yes. But
I carries fifty votes, and my cellar
jnust bo fixed or my hins will all bo
drowned." "well, Mr Muldoon, did
you seo tho Mayor nbout the
matter?" "Indado and I did,"
replied Mr. Muldoon. "And what
did tho Mayor say ?" What did he
say, is it ? "Misthcr Muldoon, says
lie, 'why don't you kapo ducks r "
