The expoits from California to the
Hawaiian Kingdom for the year 1883,
amounted to 2,059,730, an increase of
nearly 300,000 over the expoils for
1882. The value of the imports from
this Kingdom for 1883 was 7,875,998. -
An expected haul of opium from a
Mariposa Chinaman was frustiated by
John, who, anxious to secure his monoy,
came first to get it, not bringing the
opium. He was seized and seaichcd,
but made no second attempt of an Illicit

hero for three weeks and then pro
ceed to Japan.
