Tin: Hawaiian Bell Telephone
Company yesterday laid a cable to
the Russian man-of-war in poll. An
ordinary insulated wire was used
and communication was held in tho
morning with perfect clearness and
distinctness. In future a wire will
be laid to every man-of-war that
comes into port. The company docs
not get behind the times ; and it is
even doubtful whether there are
many places, of much larger size
than Honolulu, whore telephonic
communication is held with the
shipping at anchor in port.
