An opportunity will bo offered on

Messrs. Lyons and Levey have re
ceived instructions, from Mr. Rher
mnn, to offer a pair of bay carriage
or saddle horses, a lady's grey saddle
horse and the spotted Arabian mare
which can bo ridden by ft lady or
child. Intending purchasers should
go to tho circus to-night and have
another look at these fino animals.
Two prisoners escaped yesterday
afternoon from the gang working at
the quarry. They stole two horses
from Mr. Waller and wcro seen, at
a A. t. this morning, riding across
the Waimttlu bridge. The country
districts have been aroused and the
police arc in full chase, under Cap
tain Mchrlens. It is supposed that
they secured it round file from the
tramway locomotive at the quarry,
with which to remove the chain and
ball from Kaui. Minister Kapcna's
messenger was one of the ' most cn
thusintic in last night's chase, but
returned home without success at
eleven o'clock. Later iu the night
the runaways visited his house, took
six fowls and two suits of clothes.
Mr. Minister's messenger vows ven
geance and is again on the trail.
Another accident resulting from
overhead wires is reported from En
gland. During a fire at Messrs.
Wild and Son's mill at O-Tdham, the
fire brigade were taking a fire escape
to the scene, when it came in con
tact with a telephone wire attached to
the mayor's house. The telephone
wire pulled down four yards of heavy
coping stone, severely injuring eight
persons, three of whom were not ex
