A FREE FICHT.
Yesterday afternoon, the corner of
Fort and King streets, became the
scene of a free fight. Two young
foreigners driving around the malcai
corner were stopped by the police.
The occupants got out and remon
strated ; the police then attempted
to take the haoles to the Station
House, and a wrestle commenced,
one pair cleaning up the side-walk
the other pair throttling and black
guarding each other. After.making
two or three steps prisonwards a
rally was effected by one haole
seizing the guard iron of the Key
stone and strenuously resisting all
attempts to remove him. It w?is
a good iron, but when two or three
more police hauled on to the haole,
the iron fell to the ground. Matters
at this juncture became exceedingly
mixed, the proprietor of the saloon
(naturally objecting to the destruc
tion of his property), came out and
lent a voice to th eproccedings, and
various friends on both sides also
dropped in and gave a hand. Tho
law finally conquered, and the
prisoners were marched to tho Sta
tion House. As there were only
about eight police, and twelve of
their friends agsiinst each of the
haoles, our Hawaiians deserve con
siderable credit, albeit biting ought
to be disallowed.

rocco, in a fit of cheap generosity,
ceded to Spain a port which all the
ingenuity of tho Spanish Admiralty
has never succeeded in finding, An
other place is now repotted to have
''Softly and silently vanished away"
While prcpaiing a new map of the
American Customs districts, the
Treasure depaitmcnt of tho United
Stales recently discovered tho name
of a certain port of entry which,
although it figured on the official
lists, was not mentioned on any map
of modern date. The Coast Survey
Bureau could not specify the where
abouts of the missing harbor ; but it
was finally established that there had
once been such a place in Maryland,
and that it had been washed away by
the sea 50 ycais sigo. Yet up to last
month the place was borne upon tho
treasury books as one of tho ports of
entry of the United Stales; and,

tho collector of the port had been
drawing his salary with the most un
failing regularity for a quarter of a

There should be good news for
sufferers from neuralgia, if the ex
periment of an American physician
can bo repeated with success in this
country, for he has found that the
application of a vibrating ttming-f ork,
passed along the course of the nerve,
relieves the patient completely in
about half an hour. Sufferers will
have to learn how to trace the nerves,
and electricians will supply them with
the means of keeping the fork in vi
bration ; for in the absence, of any
special mention as to the pitch of the
fork, it appears that the relief is ob
tained simply by the effect of the vi

The very latest fashionable craze
is the "surprised eyebrow." The
process by which it is formed is
very simple, consisting of just a few
strokes to arch the brow over each
eye into the expression which marks
astonishment. The general effect is
to cause tho wearer to look as sur
prised as if she had just bobbed up
against a pirate's ghost, or caught
her husband mugging the lady cook
behind the pantry door. Tho next
fab will probably be the disgusting
toe-nail, and this can be formed in
an instant, by the lady accidentally
kicking her toes against the heel of a
chair as she tramps about in the dark
barefooted to look for the baby's
