McKinncy's Hawaiian Directory
will bo a useful book and ji necessity
to every ofllcc, if not every homo,
in the Kingdom. It is even unneces
sarily comprehensive, containing, as
it docs, long lists of washermen, do
mestic servants, and others, whoso
residences arc in one place to-day,
It is, scarcely very valuable in
formation to know that Ah Sam is n
dish-washer ' ' at the Hotel, a name
sake " third cook" at the same es
tablishment, and that fifteen others
occupy the useful position of do
mestic with various families, prob
ably a good many Ah Sam's have
changed places since the information
was collected. It may be said, how
ever, that this is an error in the right

tory is a bulky volume containing a
vast amount of matter. It is dis
tressing, however, to note that Ho
nolulu, Siskiyou County, California,
consists of a post-office, two hotels,
three saloons, two blacksmiths, a
butcher, and two firms , engaged in
general merchandise. Is not this
taking our name in vain.
Kaic, fined $G for drunkenness
Robert English, Keoki, Pohaiulii,
Halemoka and F. J. Shaw were fined
$6 each for drunkenness.
F. Davis, pleaded guilty of drunk
enness, was sentenced to 7 days im
prisonment -with hard labor. Cost $1.
Manuel Reis, charged with violat
ing Express Rule No. 6, on 24th
inst., was found guilty and fined $5
and cost $1.30.
Cheng Foon, Lee Fat, Ho Fon,
Ah Yee, Ha Sing, charged with
having opium in their possession on
24th inst., were remanded until 28th
inst. John Russel for the defence.
Keamiki and Nawahia, charged
with fornication on 25th inst., were
remanded until the 27th inst.
John Leeal was fined $5 and SI
cost for violating Express Rules
Monday, May 2G.
Namilimili, deserting contract of
service, was ordered to return.
Pau vs. Alina. .Judgment for
plaintiff for $204.50. Appealed to the
U Kim vs. E A Hendry. Action
for $9 for damages to wagon. Con
tinued until 2 prox.
A T Baker vs. M Naurrie. $200.
damages for horse. Continued until
