FRIDAY. JUNE 0, 1884.
Hi MET HIS MATCH.
Our friend "Wilkins has a
little 5-year-old daughter by
whom lias been vanquished

one of Lowell's most skilled
tonsorial artists. She was
taken down to' have her hair

"Do!" (Sinks exhausted).
And the little bud of pro
mised toddled out of the door
without the baffled barber
having asked her if she
wouldn't have a sea-foam or
a bottle of hair tonic.
On Saturday, the Good
wood Hounds met at Slindon
Lodges, and, as usual, a
large field was out. Champion
is always to be relied upon to
be at the trysting place to the
minute, but a good deal of
time is generally wasted be
fore a start is made. Saturday
was no exception to this rule,
and Slindon Common failing
to produce the requisite "var
mint," a move had to be made
to Dale Park. Here, a fox
was quickly afoot, and for
awhile there was every pros
pect of a good run, but un
fortunately reynard was head
ed, and rushed incontinently
into the open mouths of the
pack. The rest of the after
noon was spent in trying to
drive a fox out of the ex
tensive covers round JCar
tharn, but, .sad to say, Avith-
