"what is this disease that IS "
COMING UPON US?
Iilkc u thief lit night It steals In upon
us unawares. Jinny persons luivo pains
about the chest mid sides, mill sometimes
In the back. They feci dull nnd sleepy;
the mouth has n bad taste, especially In
hi the morning. A sort of sticky slime
collects nbout the teeth. Tliunppctlto is
noor. Tliere Is u ficliiu; like u heavy
io'ul on the stomach; sometimes :t faint
all-gone sensation at the pit of tho
stomach which food docs not satisfy.
The eyes arc sunken, the hands nnd foot
become cold iind'fcol dummy. After a
while a cough sets hi at Ill's t diy, but
after u few months It Is attended with a
greenish colouied expectoration. The
ailllctcil one feels tired all the while, nnd
sleep does not seem to allbrd any rest.
After a time he becomes ncrvois, irrita
ble, and gloomy, nnd bus evil fore
boilings. There is a, giddiness, u sort of
whirling sensation In tho head when
rising up suddenly. The bowels become
costive; the skin is dry and hot at limes;
the blood becomes thick and stagnant;
the whites of tho eyes become tinged
with yellow, the urine is scanty and high
coloured, depositing a sediment alter
standing. There Is frequently n spitting
up of tho food, sometimes with it sour
taste, and sometimes with n sweetish
taste; this is frequently attended with
palpitation of tho heart; the vision
becomes impaired with spots before the
eye?; there is a feeling of great prostra
tion and weakness. All of these .symp
toms arc In turn present. It Is thought
that nearly one-third of our population
has this disease in some of its varied
forms. It has been found that medical
men have mistaken tho nature of this
disease. Some have treated It for a liver
complaint, others for kidney disease, etc.,
but none of the various kinds Of treat
ment have been attended with success,
because the remedy should be such ns to
act harmoniously upon ench one of these
oi gnns, and upon tho stomach ns well ;
for in Dyspepsia (for this is leally what
the disease is) nil of these organs partake
of this disease and require u remedy
that will net upon all at tho same time.
Scigol's Curative Syrup acts like n charm
in this class of complaints, giving almost
immediatcd relief. The following letters
from chemists of standing lu the com.
muiilty where they live show in what
estimation the article is held.
John Archer, Ilaithill, near ShclUcld:
I can confidently recommend It to all
who may be suuering from liver or
stomach complaints, having the testi
mony of my customers, who havo derived
great benefit from tho Syrup nnd Pills.
Tho sale is increasing wonderfully.
Geo. A. Webb, 111, York Street,

and tho parties have testified to Its being
what you represent it.

Frlockhoiin, Arbroath, Forfarshire,
Sept. 23, 188:2. Dear Sir, Last year I
sent you a letter recommending Mother
Solgcl's Syrup. I havo cry much
pleasure In still bearing testimony to tho
very satisfactory results of tho famed
Syrup and Pills. Most patent medicines
die out with mo, but Mother Selgel has
had n steady salo ever since 1 com.
nienced. and is still In as crcat demand
as when I first began to boll the medi
cine. The cures which havo come under
my notice aro chiefly those of liver
complaint and general debility.
A certain mlulster in my neighbour
hood says it is tho only thing wklch has
benefited him and restored him to his
normal condition of health after being
unable to preach for a considerable
length of time. I could mention also a
great many other cases, but space would
not allow. A near friend of mine, who
is very much addicted to costlvcness, or
constipation, llnds that Motiier Selgcl's
Pills are the only pills which suit his
complaint. All other pills enuso a
rouctlon which Is very annoying.
Mother Selgcl's Pills do not leave u bad
aftcr-ellect. I havo much pleasure In
commending again to sulVcrlng human.
Ity Mother Hoigcrs medicines, wiiicn

Yours very tiuly.

Dear Sir, I write to toll you that Mr.
