WHAT
IS THIS DISEASE THAT
IS
COMING UPON US?
Llki' a llilef nt night It steals iu upon
us unawaies. Many icrHons Imve piins
about the chest and sides, and sometimes
In the back. Thuy feci dull and sleepy;
the mouth has a liad taste, especially in
in tlm niortiliii;. A sort of sticky slime
collects about tho teeth. Thcnppptlto is
poor. Tnerc is a feeling like a heavy
lo id on the stonricli; sometimes a faint
nll.gono tensation at the pit of tho
stomach which food doe not satisfy.
Tho eyes mu sunken, the hands and fct
become cold and feel clammy. After a
while a cough Bets In at ill st diy, but
after a few months it is attended villi u
greenish colouicd c.pecloration. The
atllictcd one feels tiled alltho while, and
sleep does not seem to all'ord any re-t.
After a time ho becomes neivous, irrita
ble, and gloomy, and has evil fore
boilings. There is n giddiness, nsoit of
whirling sensation in the head when
vising up suddenly. The bow els become
costive; the skin Is tliy and hot at tlmis;
thu blood becomes thick and stagnant;
the whites of tho eyes become tingul
with yellow, tho urine is scanty and high
coloured, depositing a sediment after
standing. Thcie lslrecpicntly a spitting
up of the food, sometimes with a sour
taste, and sometimes with a sweetish
taste ; this is frequently attended with
pilpltation of the heart; the vision
bccome3 impaired with spots before tho
eye; there is a feeling of great prostra
tion and weakness. All ot these symp
toms are In turn. present. It is thought
tint nearly one-third of our population
lias this disease in some of its uirlul
forms. It his been found that medic il
nun hau mistaken tho iiiture of this
disease. Sumo have Heated it forn liver
complaint, others for kidney disease, etc.,
but none ot the Mirious kinds of treat
ment have been attended with micccs,
because the iciucdy should be such as lo
act harmoniously upon caeli one of these
oigans, and upon iho stomach as will;
for in Dyspepsia (for this is really what
the disease is) all of these org ms partake
of this dUc-isu and require u remedy
that will act upon nil at the same lime.
Selgel's Uiir.il ivu Syrup acts like a charm
In mis class of complaints, giving nln.ost

Robt. Lainc, Melksham: I can well

Friockhclni, Arbroath, I'orfnrshire,
Sept. 2J, 18SJ. Dear Sir, Last year I
sent you a letter uc immciullng Mother
SJigiTS syrup. I nnvu cry muen
pleasure iu still bearing testimony to tho
very satisfactory results of the famed
Syrup and Pills. Mostpatent medicines
dio out with me, but Motlier Selgel has
had a steady sale ever since I com

as when I first begun to sell the medl.
cine. The cures which have como under
my notice aro chiefly those of liver
compliint and general debility.
A certain minister In my neighbour,
hood niys it is thu only thing wVlcli has
benefited him nnd lestorcd lilm to his
nonnil condition of health after being
unablo to preach for a considerable
lcii"th of time. I could mention auo a
great many othor cases, but i ace would
not allow. A near filend ot mine, who
is very much addicted to coativencss, or
condition, llnds that Mother Selgel's
PlIW are the only pills which suit his
complaint. All other pills cause a
reunion which is very nniwyliig.
Mother Seigcl's I'llls do not leave a bad
