WHAT IS THIS DISEASE THAT IS
COMING UPON US?
I.ikc n Ihlcf at night it steals In upon
us unawares. Many persons have pains
about the elicit and sides, and sometimes
In tho back. Thovfeel dull 'and sleepy j
the mouth ba9 u bad luste, especially 'in
in tho morning. A sort of sticky slime
collects nbout the teeth. The appetite is
poor. There is n feeling like a heavy
load on tho stomach; sometimes n faint
all-gone sensation nt the pit of tho
stomach which food docs not satisfy.
Tho eyes nro sunken, the hands and feet
become cold and feel clammy. After a
while a cough sets In nt llrst dry, but
after a few months it is nttended with u
greenish coloured cxpectorntlon. The
nlUicted one feels tired all tho whilf, uml
sleep does not seem to afford any rest.
After ft time he becomes nervous, Irrita
ble, and gloomy, and has uvil foie
boilings. There Is a giddiness, ft soit of
whirling sensation In tho head when
rising up suddenly. The bowels bocomo
costive ; tho skin Is dry and hot at times ;
the blood becomes thick and stagnant:
tho whites of tho eyes become tinged
with yellow, tho urine is scanty and high
coloured, depositing a sediment alter
standing. There is frequently a spitting
up of tho food, sometimes with n sour
taste, and sometimes with a sweetish
lasto; this Is frequently attended with
palpitation of tho heart; the vision
becomes impaired with spots before the
oyesj there Is a feeling of gfcat prostra
tion and weakness. All of those symp
toms arc In turn picsent. It is thought
that nearly one-third of our population
lias this disease in some of its arled
forms. It has been found that medical
men liavo mistaken the nature of this
disease. Some have treated it for a liver
complaint, others for kidney disease, etc.,
but nono of tho various kinds of treat
ment havo been attended with success,
becauso tho remedy should bo such as to
act harmoniously upon each one of theso
01 gans, and upon tho stomach as well;
for In Dyspepsia (for this Is really what
tho discaso Is) all of these organs partake
of this discaso and rcquiro a remedy
that will act upon nil nt the samo time.
Selgel's CiiMtlvc Syrup nets like n charm
In this class of complaints, giving almost
immediated relief. Thofollowinglciters
from chemists of standing in the com.
munlty whero thoy llvo show in what
estimation tho article is held.
John Archer, Ilarthlll, near Sheffield:
I can confidently recommend It to all
who may bo suffering from liver or
stomach complaints, having tho tcsti.
mony of my customers, who have derived
great benellt from tho Syrup and Pills,

Geo. A. Webb, 111, York Street,
Belfast: I havo sold a largo quantity,
and tho parties havo testified to Its being
what you rcprescntJt.
J. S. Metcalfe, Oj.IIighgate, Kendal:
I have always great pleasure in recom

Sept. 23, 1832. Dear Sir, Last year I
sent you a letter iccommcndlug Mother
Soigel's Syrup. I havo very much
plcusuro In still bearing testimony to tho
very satisfactory results of tho famed
Syrup and Pills. Most patent medicines
dlo out with mo, but Mother Sclgcl has
had a steady salo over since I com.
menced, and Is still in as great demand
as when I llrst bognn to bell tho modi,
clno. Tho cures which havo como under
my notice are chiclly thoso of liver
complaint nnd goncral debility.
A certain minister in my neighbour,
hood says It Is the only thing which has
benefited him and restored him to his
normal condition of health after being
unablo to preach for u considerable
length of time. I could mention also n
groat many other cases, but spoco would
not allow, A near friend of mine, who
Is very much addicted to costivcucss, or
-constipation, flnds that Mother Selgel's
Pills aro tho only pills which suit his
complaint. All other pills causo a
reaction which Is very nnnoylng.
Mother Selgel's Pills do not leavo a bad
.after-effect. I hnvo much pleasure In
commending again to Buffering human.
Ity Mother ScTgcl's medicines, which
are no sham. If this letter is of any
servico vou can publish It.
Yours very truly.
