WHAT IS THIS DISEASE THAT IS
COMING UPON US?
Llko a thief at night it steals in upon
us unawares. Many persons have pnlns
about tho chest mid sides, nud sometimes
in tho lmok. They feel dull unci sleepy;
the mouth has a bud tnsic, especially in
In tho morning. A sort of sticky slime
collects about tho teeth. Tho appetite Is
poor. Tlicro is a feeling llko a heavy
load on tho stomnch; sometimes a faint
nil-gone sensation at the pit of tho
stomach which food docs not satisfy.
Tho eyes are suuken, tho hands and feet
become cold and feel clammy. After a
whilo u cough sets in at first dry, but
nftcr a few months it is attended with a
greenish coloured expectoration. Tho
allllctcd ono feels tired nil tho while, and
sleep docs not scorn to nlTbrd any rest.
After n tlmo ho becomes nervous, irrita
ble, and gloomy, and lias ovll fore
bodings. . Tlicro is a glddincs, it sort of
whirling sensation in tho head when
rising up suddenly. Tho bowels become
costlvo; tho skin is dry and hot at times;
tho blood becomes thick and stagnant;
tho Whites of tho eyes become tinged
with yellow, tho urino is scanty and high
coloured, depositing a sediment after
standing. Thcro is trcqucntly a spitting
up of the food, sometimes with a sour
taste, and sometimes with n sweetish
jaslo; this is frequently attended with
palpitation of tho heart; tho vision
becomes impaired with spots before tho
eyes; there is a feeling of great prostra
tion and weakness. All of these synip
toms nro In turn present. It is thought
that nearly one-third of our population
has tills disease in some of its varied
forms. It has been found that medical
men havo mistaken tho nature of this
disease. Some have treated it for a liver
complaint, others for kidney disease, etc.,
but nono of the various kinds of treat
ment liavo been attended with success,
because tho remedy should bo such as to
act harmoniously upon each ono of these
organs, nnd upon tho stomach as well ;
for In Dyspepsia (for tills is really what
tho discaso is) all of these organs partake
of this disease and rcquiro a remedy
that will act upon all at tho samo time.
Selgol's Curative Syrup acts llko a charm
in this class of complaints, giving almost
immediated relief.' Thcfollowinglettcrs
from chemists of standing in the com
munity whero they live show in what
estimation the articlo is held.
John Archer, llarthill, near Sheffield:
I can confidently recommend It to all
who may bo sull'ering from liver or
stomach complaints, having tho testi
mony of my customers, who liavo derived
great bencllt from tho Syrup and Pills.
Tho sale is increasing wonderfully.
Geo. A. Webb, 141, York Street,
Belfast: I liavo sold a largo quantity,
and tho parties have testified to its being
what you represent it.
J. a. Metcalfe, 05, Highgate, Kendnl:
I havo always great pleasure in recom
mending tho Curative Syrup, for I havo
novcr known a case In which it has not
lelicvcd or cured, and I have sold many
grosses.
Uobt. Q. Gould, 27, High Street,
Audovor: I liavo nlways tako a great
intcicst in your medicines and I liavo
rccoraincndcd them, as I havo found
numerous cases of euro from their use.
Thomas Chapman, West Auckland:
I 11 ml that tho trade steadily increases.
I soil more of your medicines than any
other kind.
N. Darroll, Clun, Salop: All who buy
it arc pleased, aud recommend it.
Jos. Balkwlll, A. P. S., Kiugsbridgc:
Tho public seem to appreciate their
great value.
A. Armstcad, Market Street, Dalton-in-Furncss:
It is needless for mo to say
that your valuable medicines havo great
salo in tliis district greater thanmfy
other I know of, giving great tntls
faction.
Hobt. Laine, Melksham: I can well
recommend tho Curatlvo Syrup from
having proved its cthcacy for indigestion
myself.
Frlockhclm, Arbroath, Forfarshire,
Sept. 2!J, 1882. Dear Sir, Last year I
sent you a letter recommending Mother
Soigel's Syrup. I havo very much
pleasure In still bearing testimony to tho
very satisfactory results of tho famed
Syrup nnd Pills. Mostpatent medicines
dlo out with me, but Mother Scigcl has
had a steady salo ever sluco I com
nienced, and is Btill lu as great demand
as when I first began to sell tho medi
cine. Tho cures which have como undor
my notico aro chlclly thoso of liver
complaint anil general ucuiuiy.
A certain minister in my neighbour,
hood says it is tho only thing wiich has
benefited him and restored him to his
normal condition of health after being
unable to preach for a considerable
length of time. I could mention also a
great mauy othor cases, but spaco would
not allow. A near friend of mine, who
is very mueh nddictcd to costivencss, or
constipation, finds that Mothor Selgcl's
Pills aro tho only pills which suit Ills
complaint. All other pills causo a
reaction which is very annoying.
Mother Selgcl's Pills do not lcavo n bad
ttfter-ofl'cct, I havo much pleasure in
commending again to sull'ering human,
ity Mother Selgcl's medicines, which
nro no sham. If this letter is of any
service you can publish It.
Yours very truly.
(Signed) William S. Glass, Ohemlst.
A. J. White, Esq.
15th August, 1880.
Dear Sir, I writo to tell you that Mr.
Henry Ilillicr, of Yatcsbury, Wills, In.
,Jorins mo that ho suffered from a severe,
lorm of indigestion for upwards of four
years, and took no end of doctor's medi
cine without tho slightest bencllt, nnd
declares Mother Selgcl's Syrup which ho
got from mo lias saved his life.
Yours truly,
(Signed) N. Webb,
