AN ALARMING DISEASE AFFLICTING
A NUMEROUS CLASS.
The disease commences .vith a slight
deiangcment of the stomach, but, if
neglected, it in time involves tlic whole
fiame, embracing the kidneys, liver,
pancicas, and, in tact, the entire gl.indu.

but if the lender .will asked himself the
following questions, he m ill be able to
determine whether he himself is one of
afflicted : Have 1 distress, pain, or diffi

a dull, heavy feeling attended by drow
siuess? Have the eyes a yellow tinge?
Docs a thick, sticky, mucous gather
about the gums and teeth in the morn

tasto? Is the tougue coated? Is there
pains in tho side ami back? Is there a
fulness about the right side as if the
liver were enlarging? Is there costive
ncs? Is there vertigo or dizliicss when
lising suddenly from a horizontal posi

neys scanty and highly eolomed, with a
deposit after standing? Docs food fcr
meut, soon after eating, accompanied by
llatulcnco or a belching of gas from the
stomach? Is there frequent palpitation
of the heart? Thee various symptoms
may not be picscntat one time, but they
torment the MiU'eicr in turn as the dread

one of long ttanding, there will be a dry,
hacking cough, attended after a time by
expectoration. In very advanced stages
the skin assumes a dirty biownish ap.

WHAT IS THIS DISEASE THAT IS
COMING UPON US?
Like a thief at night it steals in upon
us iinaw ares. Many prisons havo pains
about the chest and sides, and sometimes
In the back. They feel dull and sleepy;
the mouth has a bad taste, especially In
in the morning. A sort ol sticky slime
collects about the teeth. Theappctilc is
poor. There Is a feeling like a heavy
load on the stomach; sometimes a-faint
all-gone sensation at the pit of tho
stomach which food docs not satisfy.
The eyes aic sunkcu, the hands and feet
become cold and feel clammy. After a
hilu a cough sets in at fust dry, but
atei,xn lew months it is attended with a
greenish colotned expectoration. Tho
afflicted one feels tiled all the while, and
sleep does not seem to afford any test.
After a lime ho becomes nervous, irrita
ble, and gloomy, and has evil fore
bodings. There 'is a giddiness, a soit of
whirling sensation fix the head when
rising up suddenly. The bowels become
costive; the skin is dry and hot at times;
the blood becomes thick and stagnant;
the whites of tho eyes become tinged
with yellow, tho urine is scanty and high
coloured, depositing a sediment alter
standing. Theic islreiptcntly a spitting

palpitation "of tho hcait; the vision
becomes impaired with spots before the

that nearly one-thild of our population
has this disease in some of its varied
forms. It has been found that medical
men have mistaken tho nature of this
disease. Some hac treated itfora liver
complaint, others for kidney disease, etc.,
but none of tho various kinds of treat
ment have been attended with success,
because the remedy should be such' as to
act harmoniously upon each one of these
oi gans, and upon the stomach as well ;
for in .Dyspepsia (for this is leally what
the disease is) all of these organs partake
of this disease and rcquiie n remedy
that will act upon all at the same time.
Seigel's Curatie Syrup acts like a charm
in this class of complaints, giving almost
immediatcd relief. Tliefollowinglettcrs

estimation the artiolejs held.

I can confidently recommend it to all
who may be suliering fiom liver or

great benctlt from the Syrup and Pills.
The sale is incicfsing wonderfully.
Geo. A. Webb, 'ill, York fatrcel,
Belfast: I havo sold a huge quantity,
and the parties have testified to its being
what you represent it.
.T. S. Metcalfe, 03, Highgate, Kendal:
I have always great pleasure in recom

glosses.
llobt. G. Gould, :i7, High Street,
Andover: f have always take a gieat

numerous cases of cure fiom their use.
Thomas Chapman, West Auckland:

I sell moie of your medicines than any

it are pleased, and iecommcud it.
Jos. Bilkwill, A. P. S., Kingsbridgo:
The public seem to appreciate their
great value.

that your valuable medicines have great

A certain minister in my neighbour

unable to pi each for a considerable

complaint. All other pills cause u
reaction which is very annoying.

'A SKILFUL SURGICAL OPERATION.
The American Ambassador at Vienna,

appears to aggravate tho feeling. The
eyes are sunken, tinged with yellow; the
hands and leet become cold and sticky
a cold pcrsplialion. Tho sull'eicis lcel

a recumbent position there is a dizziness,
a whistling sensation, and lie is obliged

patient spits up lood soon after eating,

days I felt considerably better, and now
