WHAT IS THIS DISEASE THAT IS
COMING UPON US?
Like a thief at night it steals in upon
us unawares. Many persons have pains
about the chest and sides, and sometimes
In the back. They feel dull and sleepy ;
the mouth has a bad taste, especially in
in tho mornlne;. A sort of sticky slime
collects about tho teeth. Thcappctito is
poor. There is a feeling like a heavy
load on tho stomach; sometimes a faint
all.gouo sensation at the pit of tho
stomach which food does not satisfy.
Tho eyes arc sunken, the hands and feet
become cold nnd feel clammy. After a
while a cough acts in at first dry, but
after a few months it is attended with u
greenish coloured expectoration. The
ntllictcd one feels tired all the while, and
sleep does not seem to afford any rest.
After a time ho becomes nervous, irrita
ble, and gloomy, and has evil fore
bodings. Thcro is a giddiness, a sort of
whirling sensation In tho head wlitli
rising up suddenly. The bowclo become
costive; tho skin is dry and hot at times;
tho blood becomes thick and stagnant;
the whites of tho eyes become tinged
with yellow, tho urine is scanty and hlgh
colourcd, depositing a sediment atter
staudlng. Thero is frequently a spitting
up of the food, sometimes with a sour
taste, nud sometimes with a sweetish
laste; this is frequently attended with
palpitation of tho heart; tho vision
becomes impaired with spots before the
eyes; there is a feeling of great prostra
tion and weakness. All of these symp
toms aro in turn present. It is thought
that nearly one-third of our population
has tli is disease in some of its varied
forms. It has been found that medical
men havo mistaken the nature ot tliU
disease. Some havo treated it for a liver
complaint, others for kidney disease, etc.,
but none of the various kinds of treat
ment havo been attended with success,
because tho remedy should bo such as to
act harmoniously upon each one of these
oigans, and upon tho stomach as well;
for in Dyspepsia (for this is really what
tho disease is) all of these organs partake
of this disease and require a remedy
that will act upon all at the same time.
Seigcl's Curative Syrup acts like acharm
in this class of complaints, giving almost
iiumcdialcd relief. ThefolTowinglctters
from chemists of standing in the com
munity where they live show in what
estimation the article is held.
John Archer. Harthill, near Sheffield:
1 I can confidently recommend it to all
who may bo sutlcring from liver or
stomach complaints, having the testi
mony of my customers, who have derived
great benelit from the Syrup and Pills.
The sale is incrcaHing wonderfully.
Geo. A. Webb, 141, York btreet,
Belfast: I havo sold a largo quantity,
and the parties have testified to its being
what you represent it.
J. S. Metcalfe, 55, nigh gate, Kendal:
I have always great pleasure in recom.
mending the Curative Syrup, for I havo
never knouu a case in which it has not
relieved or cured, and I have sold many
grosses.
uout. li. uouiu, -ji, iiign street,
Andovcr:-! havo always tako a great
interest in jour medicines and I hao
lecoinmcnded them, nb 1 havo found
numerous cases of cure from their use.
Thomas Chapmnn, West Auckland :
I find that the trade steadily increases.
I bell more of your medicines than any
other kind.
Friockhcim, Arbroath, Forfarshire,
Sept. 23, 1882. Dear Bir, Last year I
sent you a letter recommending Mother
Seigcl's Syrup. I have very much
pleasure hi still bearing testimony to the
very satisfactory results of the famed
Syrup and Pills. Most patent medicines
dlo' out with me, but Mother Scigel has
had a steady sale ever since I com. !p
menced, nnd is still in as great demand
as wiicn i nrs i. uukuu w sen me meui.
cine. Tho cures which have come under m"'
my notico aro chiefly those of Wvatfir
complaint ana general ucuimy. vr
N. Darroll, Clun, Salop: All who bujl
it are pleased, and recommend it.
Jos. Balkwill, A. P. S., Kingsbridgo:
The public seem lo appreciate their
great valuct
A. Armstead, Market Street, Dalton.in
Furness: It is needless for mo to Bay
that your valuable medicines havo groat
sale in this district greater than any
other I know of, giving great satisi
faction.
Kobt. Lalnc, Mclksham: I can well
recommend tho Curative Syrup from
having proved its efheacy for indigestion
myself.
A certain minister in my neighbour,
hood -says it is tho only thing which has
benefited him and restored him to his
normal condition of health aftor being
unablo to preach for a considerable
length of time. I could mention aho a
great many otner cases, nut spaco would
not allow. A near friend of mine, who
is very much addicted tocostiioncss, cr
constipation, finds that Mother Seigcl's
Pills aro tho only pills which suit Ids
complaint. All other pills cauBe u
reaction which is very annoying.
Mother Sclgcl'b Pills do not leave a bail

ity Mother Sclgel'a medicines, which
aro no sham. If this letter is of any
servico you can publish it.
Yours very truly.

10th August, 1683.
Dear Sir, I write to tell you that Mr.
Henry Hilller, of Yatesbury, Wilts, in.
. orms me that he suffered from a severe
form of indigestion for upwards of four
years, anu look no end of doctors mcdl.
cino without tho slightest benefit, nud
declares Mother Seigcl's Syrup which he
