rupt estate of Ainu, obtained an in
junction to restrain Lan Ung from
collecting rents and pi outs of the
estate, also from committing waste'

In the matter of Ah Sam. one of
the Chinamen lately convicted in
the Police Comt, of gaming, the
penalty of $10 fine and -18 hours'
imprisonment was reduced to a fine
alone, of 5. It appear that the
defendant had formerly been an
authorized police informer, and
pleaded, in extenuation of his pres
ence at the gaming, that he was
there acting in that capacity, of his
own accord. The plea, though not
legally valid, was taken into consi
deration for the mitigation of sen
tence. The next case was an appeal by
Ah Shan, convicted in the Police
Court of assault and battery Still

labor for one year, at the expira
tion of sentence to be returned
