A NEW RUSSIAN IRONCLAD. ,
In tho course of the present month
the new Russian nrmorcd frigate
Admiral Nakhimoff will be launched.
This frigate 1ms been constructed in
the Baltic shipyard of St. Petersburg
at Vassili Oslrow, and two years
have been occupied in building it.
The hulk is composed of wood, iron
and steel. All the iron materials
and the external armor have been
furnished by the workshops of Kol
pino. The armor is nine inches
thick. The Admiral Nakhimoff will
have on deck four movable towers,
each armed with two eight-inch
guns. The engines arc of 8000
horse power nominal, and these have
also been constructed in Baltic work
shops. The tonnage of this ship
amounts to 8,000 tons. The frame
of the vessel cost 2,500,000 roubles
and the machinery 1,280,000 roubles.

A white man from away down
South in the Okeechobee Lake re

week on business at the United
States Land Olllcc. While here he
saw the first ice he had ever seen.
He manifested great interest in the
frigid substance, and put a half
pound lump in his pants pocket to
take home to his family. He soon
took it out of his pocket, however,
and as he did so said: "I am
afeered it will spile my tcrbackcr."
Young Dudenthalcr (whose

He valked de floor all night. He's

trouble himself so much. Such
things will happen. Let him call a
meeting of his creditors ; offer 50
percent cash, and I'll use my per

Young Dudenthalcr Fcfety per

There is said to be a grocer in a
certain town of Florida who splits a
