CHANCED BASEBALL RULES.
' Several changes of an important
nature were made in the playing
rules and laws of the American As
sociation at a. recent meeting in
Louisville, Kentucky. The pitcher's
Ijox was lengthened one foot toward
second base, while it is required to
place a stone slat one foot wide
across and in front of the pitcher's
square. The hatter's box is changed
from a square of three by six feet
to a square of four by six feet, pre
cisely as in the league, while the
square is removed six inches from
the home plate instead of twelve
inches, as formerly was the case.
The number of strike-outs made by
a pitcher is no longer to be included
in the general summary. The so

or reprehensible conduct. Any

due notice has been given to the
association of the proposed disband

made of cither white rubber, stone
or iron. If a base runner inter
feres with either a batted or thrown
hall he is to be declared out. The
new proviso has regard to the thrown
ball. The fourth column ctf the
score shall be a record of bases
stolen, and shall include every uase
made by a player, except on a
battery error or by the aid of a
batting assist, base on balls, balks
or players being hit by the pitcher.
The batting assist column, which
was sovigorously pushed by several
delegates, was excluded by the
unanimous vote of the incruberf
