FOOD FOR THE SICK.
The clement of the unexpected
should always be brought into play
when cateiing for the sick. It ma
be laid down as an excellent rule
never to ask a sick person what he
wishes to cat. 'While it may be well
occasionally to inquire if he has n
longing for any particular delicacy,
avoid suggesting articles of food.
Far better provide the dainty, even
with the lisle of its failing to please.
Study little (turpi iscs, and be care
ful not to make too much of a run
upon one kind of food. An in
valid's taste wcaiics of monotony
in diet much more readily than
would that of a well person, nnd a
disgust of this sort oncu formed is
almost impossible to eradicate. One
case may be mentioned where the
constant use of eggs by a con
valescent engcndcicd in her a dis
taste for them that never wholly dis
appeared. Another invalid acquired
a disrelish for broiled quail, while a
third, after a recovery f i om a long
illness, never could bear the taste
of oysters in any form. Good
AGRICULTURAL POSSIBILITIES OF
Thci c arc at present, according to
Mr. Jcnncr, millions of acres in
Mexico which could be cultivated as
safely as if they were situated in
Southern Italy, and which will yield
products which no part of Southern
Italy can show. More capital and
better direction arc the chief wants
of the country, and, in Mr. Jenner's
opinion, it is for England to supply
these. The list of possible products
is bewildering. For coffee and sugar
there is a vast extent of land avail
able. The tobacco and cigais of
Mexico would be equal to those of
Cuba if the same skill and attention
were bestowed on their growth and
manufacture. S. P. Bulletin.
