Palaco has been built. The whole
East End is blazing with bunting,
although at the present moment the
structure which looks only like a
yellow brick barn, will be developed
presently into an imposing cdillco.
The Queen's Hall, which Her Ma
jesty opens is 130 by 75 feet, ac
commodating 2,000 people. It has
two golden galleries running along
each side supported by Caryatides,
at the back of which arc figures of
twenty-two Queens taken from all
periods of history.
A TURBULENT DEMONSTRATION.
Paris, Juno 1st There was a
brilliant assemblage at the military
fete at the Opora House this even
ing. General Boulangcr was ab
sent. While the company were as
sembling thousands of persons
gathered in the vicinity of the Opera
House, shouting, "designation I"
"Resignation!" "Long live Bou
langcr I" "We will have him!"
At 11 i. m. the crowd Outside was
greatly increased in numbers, and
became so turbulent that the Repub
lican Guard, which was held in
readiness in the courtyard of the
Opera Houso was ordered to clear
the street, which was accomplished
amid loud hisses. The crowd re
assembled at midnight, and is al
ready much larger than before. The
indication is it will bo n riotous
demonstration when tlio guests de
dart from tlio Opera House. All
the streets from Madeline and Fau
bourg St. Ilonore to the Elysec were
lined with soldiers. There is also a
large force of police on duty. It is
rumored a'mob is marching to the
Elyseo Palace. A crowd has just
crossed the Place dc Labourse
shouting "Vivo Boulangcr."
Fifty policemen have been sta
tioned at the German Embassy.
The troops and police prevented
rioting. The people, have dispersed
and the city is now quiet.
TWO NEW BRITISH WAR VESSELS.
The new belted cruiser Galatea,
which is 300 feet long and 5,000
tons displacement when in lighting
condition, was launched at Glas
gow on the 10th ultimo. The en
gines are of the triplo expansion
type, working twin screws. She
carries two 0 inch Armstrong guns,
ten 0-inch guns of tlio saino class,
eight G and eight 3-pounder quick
firing guns, nnd six torpedo impulse
tubes. Tlio engines and steering
gear are below tlio water-line, which
will be protected by steels belts.
At Dovonpprt the Serpent, u torpedo
cruiser, wis also launched, She is
225 feet in length and carries six
GtHicIi pivot guns, eight 8-pounders,
two Nordenfeldt and one 7-pounder
guns. She is fitted with five torpedo
