THE S. H. CASTLE.
The barkentino S, N. Castle was
hauled upon the Marine Itnilwny
this morning. Ilcr shoe, as previ
ously stated, was completely car
ried away. Her keel is pretty bad
ly broken and split, especially about
midships, and will most likely havo
to bo completely renewed. Her
rudder post, at the base, and a
part of the rudder proper, have
been jammed to splinters. At the
tiruo of the reporter's visit to the
Marine Railway, this morning, a
fair es'timate of the damages could
not be obtained.
ACCIDENT ON NUUANU ST.
On Saturday afternoon, Septem
ber 8th, as Miss Ward was return
ing home at 3:30 p.m., and had
reached the corner of Nuuanu and
Berctania streets, Dr. Wood in
his buggy ran into the horse Miss
Ward was driving. The young
lady was picked up insensible.
Miss Ward's horse waa injured by
the shaft of the buggy entering his
side. Dr. Wood took the horse to
his stable and did all that was pos
sible for him but the animal has
since died. Miss AVarri suffered
severe contusions and bruises, but
is now able to bcout and about.
MR. CARTER'S DEBUT.
Mr. C. L. Carter made his debut
in the Police Court this moining, as
counsel for defeiidcnt in the oas,u of
C. N. Arnold vs. C. II. Judd, as
sumpsit for 8200, for horse hire for
a Volcano excusion in 1883. Chief
Justice A. J Judd, being intetestcd
in his brother's behalf, was present
during the examination of the wit
nesses this morning and greatly as
sested Mr. Carter. At 1 :30 o'clock
this afternoon the case was argued
Mr. Carter speaking very briefly,
but with choice rhetoric. Mr.
Creighton attorney for plaintiff,
fully sustained his reputation. The
ease was decided in favor of defen
dant. Counsel for plaintiff noted
an appeal to a jury.
