KAULUWELA" SCHOOL.
From nine o'clock this morning
until after noon the examination
and closing exercises at the above
school weie held. Quite a large
number of the parcnti and fiieuds
of tho pupils were in attendance.
Mr. A. 'J'. Atkinson, Iiiipectoi
General of Schools, and Mrs. Atkin
son and .Mr. John Biish of Iolaui
School occupied seats 111 the main
schoolroom, the iutciior of which
was very tastily decorated with llow
ers and evergreens.
This school was only erected a
few months ago, with two rooms,
but the attendance of "children so
steadily increased that a third room
had to be added. It is possible eie
long that lurtber accommodation
may have to be provided.
The work of the pupils as shown
to the iiilors this morning was of
the most satisfactory kind. Eight
or nine nationalities arc represented
among the pupils, which will show
to our readers the difficulties under
which leachcis have to labor. But
it was quite evident during the
morning that the Principal, Mr. C.
II. White, had worked hard during
the short time he has had the school
in charge, ami his labors have been
rewarded witli the most encouraging
results. Mrs. Wood and Miss White
have given able assistance.
About 1 1 :!K) the closing exercises
consisting of eongs, recitations and
dialogues commenced. Some of the
recitations were excellently render
ed, while the singing was consider
ably ahead of what is generally
heard al the schools. The audience
went away very much pleased.
