Honda and Bridges defeated Alii
olani Ilnlo in a match of seven in
nings, by 12 to 9 runs, on Saturday
afternoon. The batting and base
running of a very short and stout
native in tlio Roads and Bridges
nine made more mhusoment than a
good deal to the crowd. When lie
gracefully took off his lint in salute
to the gnllery on reaching a base,
the applause was terrific.
Afterward, tao Valle' Boys and
Iolanis had a match. It was delayed
in opening until a quarter to four,
on account of a dispute over the
Valley Boys' trying to play O. Cou
radt, of the Punaliou nine, in tlinir
team. They were, over-ruled. The
Iolanis started in as if they were
going to sweep everything before
thcin, making 4 in the first and 3 in
the second, and whitewashing their
opponents up to the fourth inning.
Tlio Valley Boys then, however,
pulled themselves together and made
5 runs, and by the end of the sixth
had made tho issue almost doubtful,
coming within 2 of their opponents,
or 0 to 11. They never got further,
however, but the Iolanis piled the
majority higher, making their score
17 to 9, as appears below. There
was a largo attendance, including
many of the veterans, and the en
thusiasm of the spectators was at n
high pitch over the frequentbrillianl
playing of "the kids:"
