HONjLUL'J ARiOM A J.iier8rnl Entertainment I'Mlow eil by a itanee. Tlio first ot a series of dinnialic and musical entertainments, eon cluding with a hop, by the Honolulu Arion wai given yesterday evening at their hall. Quite an improve ment hai been made in tlio interior of the ball by tho erection of a very handsome and well-appointed stage at the loner end which was used on this occasion for the first time. Wreaths of evergreens were hung around the room and on the lamp chandeliers. There was c'uiio a large audience in attendance, which included the German Consul and Mrs. Glade. The programmo opened with an overture played by Mr. Horgcr on the piano with tho assistance of string instruments. Then came "The LostUmbiella," a play in one act, introducing quite a number of chniacters, a varied assortment of costumes and also umbrellas. Mr. J. ITumburg, as Emilia Trillerini, sustained the part very well. Wheu Mr. Maurice Goldberg a3 Lord Har rington appeared, dressed in n gor geous checked suit, and attended by a servant (F. Wicke), thero was loud applause. Ho carried his part through very well and caused much ainnsement. All of tlio other characters were well sustained. The play was given in Gorman which of course was not understood by all in tho audience, but it was said to bo very amusing. After a brief intermission M. lkash gave a comic song, "An awful little scrub," which was encored. A zither solo by Th. Wolff was very nicely played and ho had to repeat it. The entertainment concluded with a fnree, "Tho railway mati nee," the characters being sustained by V. H. Charlock, .Jr., J. II. Jteist, F. Wiclco, M. Brash and W. G. Ashley. It contained many local hits and was very "amoosing." The hall was cleatcd of the choir3 and dancing commenced to tho strains of the Hawaiian 9tring band. The floor managers were assiduous in their attention to thoso present, hefresliments were hervud at inter vals. The whole entertainment was a complete success and reflected much credit upon President Gold berg and the members of the Arion. Loug live the Honolulu Arion. "oTaTIT" " Tho olllcers of Geo. W.
