The Star
I'.rlllinrcl by
I'lnj Injj.
Mupcrlor
Saturday's game meant the pen
nant, for the Knracuainclin Club, tinil
it played as if lhi3 fact was well un
derstood. The Star Club did well
enough tit tiie bat, but failed sadly
in fielding. There was n large
crowd in attendance, which showed
enthusiastic interest in tho game.
Following is n summary of the
leading points with tho olllcial
score.
1. l'ahau, Davis, and olaliuku
scoicd for Ivamehanieiin. J. I'crry
bcored for tho Star.
2. Pnhntt again scored. Star
was whitewashed.
!). Manuka and Lawclawc added
two mote. Star, nothing. .
4. Kauiohamclia got its first
whitewash, blar pulled up with
urns by A. Perry and Chandler, but
still stood one to two.
5. Two wore out when Lawc
lawc made a home run amid the
wildest enthusiasm. Nothing by
the Star.
G. Both took a whitewash. Mr.
Grupp, umpire for bases, astonish
ed beholdeis by deciding Paliau
safe at first.
7. Kamchamcha had a carnival
of fun, making four runs with two
singles and one throe-base hit, the
runners being Davis, llahuka, I.a
wclawc, and Makatnioku. Star
"astonished the natives" by leturn
ing the compliment Chan. Wilder,
Wodchouse, Burner, and Winter
scoring, and three base hits being
made.
8. Kamehanielia took alarm at
the latest development, and, after
losing Wise at first, the next six
scored on base hits. viz. : Warner,
Davis, Maliuka, Lawclawc, ftlakai
moku, and Wahincmaiki. l'ahau
was left at third after making a
two-base hit. Star reduced its op
ponent's triumph by two, made by
Chandler, hit by pitcher, and J.
Pciry, base hit, brought in by
Wodchouse s base bit,
9. Baldwin pitched this inning,
giving two men base on balls.
Neither sidu scoicd.
It would liac taken too much
space in the foicgoing to have des
cribed all the mulling, wild lluow
ing, etc., which put the Star so
deep in the shade. Let the record
ed criors suilicc to tell the tale.
Mr. Carter of tho Star wishes it
staled that he was absent from the
nice owing to a dillleulty in the
club meeting when it was decided
to play, after Hie adverse decision
of the League on. the disputed
game.
