In tho cosoy liltlo parlor of tho old

fonl street, Grccnpoint, Saturday
night lay an icobox covered with a
simple white pall. Wilhin tcposed
the wasted body of a young ,girl
whose pinched face and spare ai ins
indicated the terrible sickness through
which she had passed. Her father
and the other meinbeis of tlic family
ftantiually bemoaned their loss and
implored the few neighbois who canio
to sympathize with them in nieir dp

It was vaccination that not only
caused Francet Aston's death, but
caused her six years of indescribable
pain. The vaccine, which was used
with the greatest care by the family
physician, Dr. C, A. Walters, of No.

a score of other famous medical nieir

Additional inteicst comes fiom the
fact that the family lias from time

They returned to school and five days
later Frances complained of pain in
her left side. The pain grew worse
and two days later she became para

limbs without suffering torture, and
whenever she was touched she
screamed with pain. Dr. Walters
was puzzled and called in other phy

formed just oer the girl's left knee,
and the pain became so intense that
she was unable to lie in bed or stand

Buffered thus, and then her patents
decided upon taking her to Bellevue

excited the greatest interest among
the students, yet her disease could
not be diagnosed. The abscessjon her
knee diicd up and another foimed on
her left side, just below the heart.
The pain became worse than before,
and the shiieks of the girl continued
sometimes for hours.
After being in Bellevue three
months her parents took her home.
She seemed to improve soon after,
although the muscles of hei limbs
contracted and she became a ciipple.
She pleaded so hard to be allowed to
go to school that her parents con

When she left school after two sea
