Ivawtiialiao Church, nllliough not
crowded at tho Kuwninhno Seminary's
conceit vSaturdtfy evening, had a full
appearance. RIaiiy of the lately ar
rived tourists wore in the audience,
some of wIioji have been heard to
express their delight with not only
the native music, but the manner in
which it was rendered, together with
wondering admiration for the pio
llciency of tuonallvc oiehostra. The
libtary fund ofthb Seminary must
have goO a good lift from the "net
receipts, as the expanses of the con
cert could not have been very great.
The program opened witli an over
ture by the Itoyal Hawaiian Orches
tra, conducted by Prof. II. Berger.
It was "Ktichaiitincnt" by Herman,
ami fell agreeably on the auditors.
The Seminaiy sang Wiener's "Wel
come," a chorus, followed by the
gavotte, "Queen's Jubilee," the Ha
waiian Queen's compliment to Her
Brilatmiu Majesty. Both perform
ances were warmly applauded.
Hon. Paul It. Isenberg, in his rich
tenor, awoke the enthusiasm he al
ways does on the musical stage, with
the solo, "My Queen," by Blumcn
thal. An equally acceptable piece
was given in response to a recall.
The papils of the first choral class,
conducted by Miss Susanne Patch, in
the course of the evening, gave "The
dearest spot on earth to me," by
Benedict, and the duet with chorus,
"Onward, bontrj boot," by Kucken,
in each case being loudly recalled
and cheerfully responding.
Further numbers by the Seminary
were: "Kanani o ka pakipika,"
words by Mrs. Haalelea, music by
A. B. Naone ; "Full and harmoni
ous," chorus, arranged from Gibby
la Cornemuse; "Song of the hop
pickers" ; "Puahi a ka lani," by
Queen Liliuokaiani, aud "O'er
blooming meadows," a waltz trio, by
Wekerlin. In every case the audi
ence asked for more. The orchestra
played "Egyptian midnight parade"
effectively in the middle of tho sec
ond part. MiBs May C. Atherlon
sang the solo, "Burst, ye apple blos
soms," by Stephen Emory, aud the
way she did it produced a fuiore of
applause. One recall was complied
with, but to a second the fair song
stress bowed her acknowledgment.
, Miss Carrie Castle, w)a is in the
, front lank or loi.al amateur pianists,
was the accompanist tor the Semi
nary. Mr. F. M. English ably ac
companied Mr. Isenberg, and Mr,
Theo. Richards played for Miss
Atherlon. It is seldom that such an
aggregation of musical talent appears
in Honolulu as did on tins occasion.
Results, as to the Seminary stand as
a high tribute to Miss Patch's pains
taking training, and as to the orches
tia a credit to the playeis and an
added wreath to the fame of Prof.
Hcrgor, both as an instructor and
conductor. Considering that the
orchestral branch of the. band has
only been organized a few months,
exacting criticism would be out of
place and still not be able to ferret
out many Haws.
A fine Kimball piano was kindly
loaned for tho occasion by II. II.

clear programs were printed at the

the Leader, Mexia, Texas. "In the
latter case I used Chamberlain's

considerable success, only being in
bed a little over two days, against
ten days for the first attack. The
second attack I am satisfied would
have been equally as bad as the first
but for the use of this remedy, as I
