Skc. 'JO. No person shall, unless by per
mission of the Chief Knglnccr, kindle any
tire, nor in any way authorize any lire to
bo mado in any street, road, lane, market
place or other highway, or on any pier or
wharf in tho city, except for the purpose
of. boiling tar, which lire shall not bo more
than ten feet from tho end of the pier or
wharf; and no person shall kindle or light,
or cause to be lighted, any rubbish or any
bonfire in any place whatsoever within a
radius of one milo of the present site of
tho Bell Tower of Honolulu without the
permit in writing of the Chief Engineer.
Sr.c. 27. All engines, carriages, and
other movable apparatus of the Honolulu
Eire Department shall have the paramount
right of way through all streets, lanes,
alleys, highways and byways, places and
courts of the city and lire districts of Ho
nolulu, when running to a fire, and such
apparatus, together with all other vehicles
thereto, excepting street cars, shall take
and keep tho right side of the street, unless
the Mime be obstructed, and all strc6t curs
in tho vicinity of any such apparatus go
ing to a lire, shall retard or accelerate their
speed, as the apparatus may require, in
order to give the apparatus of the l'iro De
partment the unobstructed use of thestieet
for the time being.
Skc. l!S. Xo per-on or persons having
the control of any vehicle shall wilfully or
carelessly permit the same to obstruct the
progress of the apparatus of the Honolulu
Fire Department going to a lire.
Sec. SK). Whoever wilfully, wantonly or
maliciously obstructs or retards the passage
of an engine, or any fire apparatus of the
l'ire Department, while going to or at a lire
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction thereof shall be pun
ished by a lino not exceeding one hundred

Skc. .'I. Any person violating any of the
provisions of this Act sball be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and on convic
tion shall, except where the penalty is

Robberies and burglaries aro again

burglary was made at ono o'clock
