Section 7 relates to a tax at $i on
all carriages and wagons used for
tho conveyance of persons. Parsed.
Section 8, relating to the tax on
dogs, providing a St tax on male
and $Jl on females.
Hop. Wilcox moved an amendment
that tho tax on remalo dogs be rais
ed to JT).
Rep. Waipuilani protested even
against tho $3 tax. Ho favored a re
duction to SI on all dogs, llawai
ians had by practice learned to look
on dogs as a necessity, baked dog
was well known to be superior to
pig. Tho raisers of cattle on a gieat
largo bullock woith Sift only paid
tho sum of 15 cents taw. The
owner of a horso only paid fit) cent.

"kill and destroy."
On motion of Noble Marsden the
section and amendments were refer
red to a select committee composed
of Noble Cornwoll, Minister Wido
liKinn, Noble .Marsden and Hops.

was reduced from '$2000 to S1000,
