Sossion Laws of 1888.
The attention of the public is called to
the following Fire Laws:
Sec. L'O. No person shall, unless by per
mission of thu Chief Engineer, kindle any
lire, nor in any way authorize any lire to
ho made in any street, road, lane, market
place or other highway, or on any pier or
wharf in the city, oxeept for the purpose
of boiling tar, which tiro shall not be more
than ten feet from tiie end of the pier or
wharf; and no pan-on shall kindle or light,
or causo to he lighted, any rubbish or any
bonllre in any phue whatsoever within a
radius of one mile of the pro-cut site of
the Hell Tower of Honolulu without the
permit in writing of the f3hief Engineer.
Sec, 1!". All engines, carriages, and
other movable apparatus of the Honolulu
Fire Department shall have thepatainount
light of way thiough all streets, lanes,
alleys, highways and bjw'ays, places .and
courts of the city and lire distiicts of Ho
nolulu, when tunning to a liie, and Mich
apparatus, together with all other vehicles
thereto, excepting street cars, shall take
and keep the light side of thestreet, unless
tho same bo obstructed, and all street ears
in the vicinity of any such apparatus go
ing to a lire, shall ictaid or accelerate their
speed, as the apparatus may require, in
older to give the apparatus of the Fire De
partment the unobstiueted u-c ofthestieet
for the time being.
Si.c. 1!. No person or persons having
the contiol of any vehicle shall wilfully or
carelessly permit the same to obstruct the
progiess of the apparatus of the Honolulu
Fire Department going to a lire. ""
Si.c. :.!). Whoever wilfullj , wantonly or
maliciously obstiucts or retards the passage
of an engine, or any lire apparatus of the
Fire Department, while going to or atalire
shall bu deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction thereof shall be pun
ished by a line not exceeding one hundred

A special train brought tho elite of
Kahului society, together with somo

of tho festivity, tho social hall, which
was exceedingly handsomely decor

her stay won a host of friends who
are sorry to seo hor leave, and wish
her aloha with all their heart.
Mrs. G. 1 Wilder gave a very en
joyable lunch to a number of lady

Two very unfortunate accidents
occurred again at Spreckelsvillddur
ing tho week; tho first ono on tho
plantation railroad near tho store,
when a Japanese laborer, who with
his follow-laborers came homo from
work in tho evening, jumped off ono
of tho cars' while going protty fast,
slipped, fell botweon two cars and
was run over and instantly killed.
Tho second accident happened tho
following morning, Fiiday, when a

H. 11. Co., attempted to switch just

back on tho car bumped against an
upright, fell between tho cars and
was frightfully mangled. Ho was
put on board tho train just about to
start for Kahului and speedily con
voyed to tho Wailuku Hospital,
where ho expired a few minutes after
his arrival. Both men leavo a wifo
and family behind them, which
makes tho accident, all tho mora dis
tressing and mournful. No blame
