Assembly reconvened from recess
nt 1:15 o'clock, nnd proceeded with
the consideration ot Section 40 of
the "Internal Taxes" law. After
considerable debate tho section was
referred to a special committee con
sisting of Minister Widcinann, No
bles Thurston and Neumann, and
Heps. Ivamauoha and Kauealii.
Section 11. delating the detail
and manner in which returns of tax
able property shall bo made, defer
red to (above) select committee.
Section 42. Describing tho rights
and powers of Assessors. Section
amended to debar entrance into
houses and passed.
Section !!!. Power given to As
sessors and deputies to administer
Section 41. Defining duties of
Assessors in making returns of as
sessments to Minister of Finance.
Section 45. Hours of attendance,
and time of the year, by Assessor in
ollieofor transaction of public duties.
Section 4(5. Power of appeal by
persons aggrieved in assessment.
Section 47. Costs payable for re
ductions claimed. Passed.
Section 43. Form of certificate to
bo given by assessor to appellants.

lect in his division and to make re
turn and turn moneys over to tho
Minister of Finance. Passed.
Section 5S. Personal and dog
taxes duo and payable after July 1st
in each year. All other taxes after
November 1st eaoh year.
