Editou Bulletin:
The lottery apologists say that wo
are poor, and so aro justified in prey
ing upon our neighbors. They sav
our prospects for tho next two or
three years look doubtful, and so
propose tho tramp's ideai of finan
ciering beg or thieve. Why do not
those pious patriots propose that wo
arm our island steamers and go out
as pirates? Piracy is morn feasible
than tho lottery, and quite as worthy
as their plan of salvation. Either
plan would mean disaster, and tho
world's enmity is bettor than tho
world's contempt. There is something
that almost commands respect in tho
bold robberies of a grizzly. There
is liofhing but sliaiuo in tho sneak
thieving of rats. J. B.
