Course of tho Opposition.
Editor Bulletin:
In a loader of tho Advertiser this
morning it states, in speaking of tho
determination of the Opposition to
fight any Ministry not named in
accordance with tho principles
adopted by Mr. Thurston and col
leagues, "It is bettor to fail in a good
cause than to succeed in a bad, but
tho Opposition does not intend to
fail and will not."
This is an implication that no
matter what class of men goes into
tho Ministry thoy will bo opposed
for tho sake of a principle winch, if
adopted by any Opposition with
which tho "rule or ruin" leador was
not affiliated, ho would fight against
with tho sanio vim that ho now
shows in attempting to force upon
tho people a situation which should
bo ami is deplored bj' tho masses.
Ho is sacrificing tho business credit
abroad by this continued deadlock,
If tho Opposition persists in its
course to throw out airy Cabinet not
named by one of the three graces, it
devolves upon the people to assert
their rights in mass meeting.
When Captain Sonimes sailed out
of Cherbourg to .attack tho Kear-
sargo ho remarked that ho "could
not fail," but ho did. The same fate,
it is hoped, will befall those who aro
striving to keep out of tho Ministiy
men who aro acceptable to the peo
ple. Bunker Hill.
Men's Eyes.
"I always remember a man by his
oyes," said Captain Allen Jordan,
ono of tho old-time detectives. "If
I once got a .square look at a man's
oyes I would recognize him if I mot
him in Calcutta. The oyes never
change, tho fnco is alwaj's changing.
A man without strongly marked
foaturos can deceive tho shrewdest
detectives if tho latter have not
niado a study of his eyes. There aro
men whoso faces aro completely
altered by shaving off a moustache.
Evon a week's growth of board and
a change of clothing will completely
disguise some men. There aro men
who look liko gentlemen when clean
shaven and liko tramps with a three
days' stubblo on their faces. A
change from a stiir to a soft hat
completely altors some, but if you
have noted thoir oyes j'ou cannot
mistake thoni. Every trade and
profession stamps its imprint upon
the ojros. If 30U will notice closely
you will seo that tho oyes of the
merchant diiror from thoso of tho
lawyer, tho eyes of tho day laborer
from those of the skilled mechanic.
Next to tho eyes, I note the walk of
men. No two got over tho ground
oxaotly aliko. A crook caninrf walk
like an honest man. 1 can almost
toll a thief by listening to his foot
stops ou tho sidewalk." Si. Louis
Globe Democrat.
The Best Pi.Asrnit. Dampen a
piece of llannol with Chamberlain's
Pain Balm and bind it on over tho
seat of pain. It is better than any
plaster. When the lungs aro soro
such an application on tho chest
and anothor on tho back, between
tho shoulder blades, will often pie
vent pneumonia. There is nothing
so good for a lame back or a pain in
tho side. A sore throat can nearly
always bo cured in ono night by ap
plying a flannel bandage dampened
with J'ain Balm. fi() cent bottles for
sale by all dealers, Benson, Smith
& Co., Agents for tho Hawaiian
Islands.
Prof. F. Lombard, A. 11., will re
sume giving instruction in private
or in classes, Fionch, Spanish and
