books and had attended such lec
tures boforo. Learned nothing now,

sidered tho pictures objectionable
boforo n promiscuous audience.
Thought that such pictures should
only bo shown boforo an audience of
medical and scientific people. Had
seen just such pictures used in lec
tures to medical students; woro
shown in just tho samo way.
On cross-oxainination tho witness
said that tho pictures woro anatomi
cally correct. Know defendant in
Chicago. Woro at Bennett Medical
Collego together. Prosecution rests.
H. N. Castle, editor of tho Adver
tiser, sworn I was at tho lecture re
ferred to. It was a scientific lecture
boforo a popular andionco. It was
neither immoral nor indecent.
W. F. Frear, sworn Was at tho
lecture, did not seo any indecent
pictures or anything tending to cor
rupt youth. The andionco was com
posed of males.
Hon. Joseph Marsden, sworn Was
at tho lecture; saw all the pictures;
it was a medical lecture addressed
to peoplo not familiar with medical
torms. Saw no pictures that woro
indecent or that would corrupt
youth. On tho contrary, thought
that tho tendency was good.

There is now being exhibited in
Ceylon a specimen of a "jungle man"
imported from China. The creature
stands about two feet in height, has
a head and face liko a monkey, and
a body which, but for its dhninutivo
size, appears to bo similar to that of
a human boing. Tho hands and feet
are perfect. This missing link is re
ported to bo about three j'ears old.
