The Number Nine I
The singular properties of the number
nine are well-known to arithmeticians,
Tho following is ono of tho most interest
ing. If tho caidinul numbers from 1 to 0
inclusive, omitting H, be used as a multi
plicand, and any ono of them, multiplied
by !), bo used as n multiplier, the result
will present a succesMon of figures tho
same as that multiplied by thu U. For ex
ample, if wu wish a series of lives, we take
S times II, equal to 15 for a multiplier:
:i l 5 it
fl 5 5 5
5 5 5 (i
A similar result will bo obtained bvuslni:
all the other numbor.s, Including 8 (7'J).
Another interesting fact is that there are
