tho program, which was well carried

one or two porsons, were sold at tho
refreshment stand, whoro several of
tho comely matrons of Makawao,
Kahului and Spreokolsville also dis
pensed fragrant coffeobeans in solu

salvation, was free, tho proceeds from
tho sale of refreshments and fancy
articles, worked by tho deft fingers of
tho fair members of tho M. L. A. S.,
netted about $75, which aro intonded

tho jury term, which commences in

cases on tho calendar first. Tho for
oign jurors havo boon notified to bo

They hope this is tho last time thoy

Larson's Last Victim.
Tho native Kalakahuna convicted
on two charges of larceny this morn
ing is an old offender. Ho has al
ready served iivo tonus on tho roof.
Ho confessed this last time to being
tho porpotrator of not less than
oiht robberies of chickens, besides
being a potty thief, stealing anything
from a milk to a wash tub. His
place on being searched was actually
littered with milk pails ranging from
a pint container to two gallon.
JIo was brought up this time on
two charges and was sontoncod to
one year at hard labor for oach.
It will bo gratifying to tho public
to know that a dangerous thief is
out of harms way for a time, and
groat credit is certainly duo to offi
cer Larsou, for being instrumental
in approhouding and convicting a
thiof of this class.
It is only to bo regretted that
capable police ollicors, such as Lar
son has proved himsolf to bo, should
by tho parsimony of tho Legislature
in striking out all pay for foreign
police oiheors, bo deprived of tho
opportunity of voting out tho othor
criminals of tho town.

Tho Exnminor's Article,
Having carofully road tho Exam
iner from beginning to finish, I fail
to see anything from tho ablo pen of
Mr. T. T. Williams but tho ''sobor,
drab-colored truth," which I am
awaro often cuts deepor with somo
people than a falsehood. Mr, T, T,
Williams is woll known throughout
California as a strictly religious gen
tleman with a charaotor abovo ro
proach, I feel convinced that when
tho over-worked brain of the Adver
tiser man becomes "sobor, drab
colored," ho will mako ample apol
ogy to Mr. Williams, and givo him
credit for having tho courago to
speak tho "sobor, drab-colored
truth," whioh ho has donoin an ablo
and Christian maunor, with regard
to tho "queer" in Hawaii noi.
