Spokane (Wash.), January 3. A
special from Lowistou to-night says
that last night shortly aUor mid
night a furious mob of from thirty
to forty masked and armed men
suddenly confronted Dormty Shoriff
Wright in his rooms at the Court
house, and boforo the olllcor could
(Infnt'Wl llltYlcmlf tin ina nt'iirtwiinfnf1
pinioned and strapped to his bed
and the keys of tho jail taken from
him.
Tho mob then proceeded to tho
coll whoro Albort T. Koborts was
confined for tho purpose of lynching
him. When tho mob appeared at
his coll Koborts foil on his knees and
boggod pitoously for his life, but tho
mob, Heedless oi his appoal, took
him out and dragged him to an old
grain mill about 100 yards distant.
Koborts fought ovory inch of tho
way, but ho was poworloss in tho
hands of his executioners, who brut
ally kicked and boat him.
A ropo with a nooso at ono end
was thrown over ono of tho rafters
in tho mill and tho nooso placed
around Robert's nock. Ho was thou
asked if ho wished to praj-, but tho
victim was exhausted with his fight
for Hfo and beforo ho could recover
his breath ho was pulled into tho
air. His death struggles woro terri
ble, and a spectator who witnessed
tho lynching through a window said
that it was nearly ton minutes bo
foro thoy ceased.
When tho mob was certain that
tho victim was dead the ropo was
made fast to a beam and tho body
left hanging, and thoro it was found
by tho Coroner shortly afterwards.
The community is terribly worked
up over tho outrage, and ovcrj elFort
will be niado to ferret out tho lynch
ers and punish thorn to the e'xtont
of tho law.
Tho crime for which Roberts suf
fered was the killing of J. A. Suther
land at Leland, Idaho, December
15th. Tho row culminating in tho
murder occurred in Jones' black
smith shop over tho amount of wages
coming to Koborts, who had form
erly been employed by Sutherland.
During tho altercation Roberts call
ed Sutherland a liar and was jump
ed upon by tho latter. Roberts had
a gun in tho insido breast pocket of
his coat, which ho discharged three
times, all three shots taking ellcot in
Sutherland's chest. Sutherland lived
about ton minutes.

J!y Johnson the Shirt Mun.
Now there is a man with a great big gall,
If you look at him he'll commence to bawl,
He had some Shirts and wanted them fixed
Hut without the money he could not do
nix, nix,
Ho started in and tried his nerve,
Hut the looks of him would not serve.
He tried with a lawsuit but without suc
cess, That dirty man will die like the rest.
(live me my Shirts or in an hour I'll sue,
It will cost me nothing but be dear for vim,
For I have a pull and in jail you'll go,"
And when you are there you'll have no
show.
He tried his ilirtv game but it did not work.
He got hit in the neck and a good hard
jerk,
He feels as soro as a leper case,
Ho is so ashained to look in your face.
Mokvi. Do others or they will do you.
Johnson tho Shirt Maker is at tho
corner of King and Alakea streets,
whoro ho makes all kinds of Shirts to

Tho mystery of a rocout explosion
in Chicago is partly unraveled. A
mysterious man, dressed in a long
ulster, had loft a package on a saloon
liar, saying, "It's for Konua," and
then loft tho place. Konna, pro
prietor of tho saloon, unwrapping
tho package found in its interior a
whisky llnsk containing a whitish
liquid. There woro also a set of
brass wheels and six small brass cast
ings seen ruly bound together with
twine. Konna, thought somebody
had played a joke on him, and was
about to throw the box and its con
tents on tho lloor, when an old sailor
(stopped hi in and gave the opinion
that tho;liquid in tho llnsk was
nitro-glycerinu. James H. McGinnis
was sent out to throw it in tho lake,
and a moment after ho left the saloon
tho explosion occurred. Ho says he
thought the thing was a joko on
Konna, and ho throw the package
over tho fence. Instantly thoro was
a Hash of light and McGinnis found
himself lying on his back on tho
Htreot. Konna knows no reason why
anybody should want to kill him.
