Tho ship Alaska, for years running

galo was blowing, and it was impos

When Cantain Brannan found that

Tho boats woro lowered and the

in tho face of tho galo that was
blowing from tho southwest, and it
is remarkable to rolato that tho small

Tho crow of tho abaudonod vessel

War, but tho money was not needed.

bo destroyed in batches. Mean
while, M. Vishuogradsky camo into
oflico and allowed an announcement
of tho destruction of tho notes to bo
published, although notes for 90,
000,000 rubles wore still iu hand, and
tho Government has now decidod
secretly to place thorn iu circulation
in bohalf of tho Now Siberian Kail

for wmcu it will not liavo to account

TIIAT BOYCOTT DECISION.
Ex-Congressman Frank Hurd of
Toledo, Ohio, is iu Washington, and
with E. W. Harper of Terro Hauti,
Ind., will bring tho recent decision
of Judge Kicks in tho famous Ann
Arbor cases before tho Supremo
Court for a review of proceeding.
They will by habeas corpus attempt
to secure tho release of Engineer
Lennou, who was convicted under
Judgo Kicks' ruling, and sentenced
to prison. Messrs. Harper aud
Hurd, while hopeful of securing a
rovorsal of tho action, are not un
prepared to see it confirmed, aud iu
that event they will at once begin
to prepare to present the subject to
Congress next fall. Sonator Ctilloni
said on tho lloor ol tho bonato re

the decision which was at fault, and
that if labor desired relief it would

A London despatch of April 22
says; Jjasi evening's oratory in tno

of memorable occasion. Gladstone
did not rise to speak until midnight,
but conscious of his coining victory
ho was as sprightly ana upngtit as
youth. In his voice there was not a
traco of huskiness, but it was firm
and harmonious, and tho tones woro
lieard distinctly in ovory part of tho
house. His speech might bo de

oratory, sprinkled with humorous
aud delightful allusions, as when he

said, must have boon dear and re
