The steamer Lehaa brought 1800 bags of
sugar from Olowalu this morning. The
sugar was transferred to the Alden Besse.

steamer W. G. Hall wont on boerd the
Alden Besse this morning, and 3250 on the

The steamer Pelo towed tho barkentino
Wrestler to sea yesterday, whilo tho tug
Eleu to ed tho bark S. C. Allen. The two
vessels left port about the samo time.
The barkentino Amelia is still waiting
for cargo at Allen & Robinson's wharf.

COURT OHBONIGLE.
Opium is reported to bo plentiful
in town, the price of a tin being
quoted at 16. Over twenty for
eigners, it is reported, are among
the smugglers and sellers of the
drug.
A Chinaman named Koupr Sai
pleaded guilty to the unlawful pos
session of opium in the District
Court to-day and sentence was
suspended until to-morrow. With
tho exception of a fine of S2 imposed
on Kulaoka for drunkenness, noth
ing else was done.
A big crowd watched tho opera
tions of replacing the rudder at the
stern of the Miowera all day, a por
tion of whom found the dock of tho
barkentine Geo. C. Perkins a very
convenient and comfortable place to
watch from. As the rudder is now
in position, in a few days the steam
ship may be expected to take her
trial trip.
Tho Bishop Musoum at tho Ka
mehameha Schools was opon to
visitors yestorday. A largo number
of people availed themselves of the
opportunity of viewing ancient relics.
Prof. Brigham, who lately returned
from Australia, has added a col
lection of Fijian, New Hobridean,
Samoan and Australian curios to tho
musoum.
Miss Emma K. Kawewehi died at
Leloo at 11 o'clock yestorday morn
ing, the result of fever contracted
about two weeks ago. The deceasod
was a sister of Mrs. Julia Starr Kapu,
and was 20 years and 11 months old
at tho time of her demise. Tho funeral
took placo this afternoon at 2:30
o'clock, the place of intormont being
at Kawaiahao.

Committed for Embezzlement.
A man named J. W. Radway was
brought from Kauai this morning
on tho steamer Jamos Makee, in
charge of Deputy Attorney-General
G. K. Wilder. He waived examina
tion to a charge of embezzlement of
ovor $3000 from tho Post Offico at
Lihue, and has been committed for
trial. Radway is now confined in
Oahu jail.
