The grand stand at the League
grounds was fairly filled ou Satur
day afternoon, the attraction being
the opening of the baseball season.
The KamehamehaH ami Hawaii
were to open the ball. The P. G.
band was iu attendance and so were
the "kid." Uoth teams appeared iu
their old time uniforms, the only ex
ception being that Miveral of' the
Kninehamehas wore umlershirls.
The game was begun well, but ended
iu a fiasco. The game was properly
the Hawaii's, but through a mis
understanding of Tommy Pryce's, it
was lost to the Kamehaiuehas. It
was a tie at the first half of the
ninth inning. The Hnwaiis were
two out, with Willis ou third base.
Pryce went to the bat and pounded
a grounder, sending Willis home.
Instead of covering his own ground
Pryce watched Willi, and was
thrown out. The Haw-niis were so
discouraged by their catcher's mis
take that they let their opponents
pile up four runs. Ahin, the Ha
waii's new pitcher, threw a sternly
ball, and helped materially to keep
the score down.
