There was a groat crush on board
the Japanese crui.-or Takachiho last
night, iu response to the invitation
of Captain Nomura and olllcera.
Tho vossel was adorned like a brido.
Indeed, there was never anything
like the decorations sooti horoboforo
either on ship or shore. Japanese
are great at making artificial llowors,
as tliee naval sailors proved on this
occa-ion. Wherever the eye lighted
it unit a profusion of delicately
wrought imitations of tlowers.
There was no scarcity of real (lowers
and growing plants either, audit
was interesting to see the ingenuity
of taste with which they were sot.

pied the chair. It was staled that
the obj'Cl of the meeting was to
consider I he advisability of import
iug F.nglish pheasant into the coun
try for brooding purposes. After
some discussion it was decided to
forward an order to No Jersey, for
I wo doen l'nglih pleasants. The-e
birds, which are said to bo a little
larger than the pheasants now hero,
are expected to arrive iu July next.
They will bo turned loose on the
association's hunting grounds and
allowed to brood. The order will
probably go by the S. S. Australia.
