street armory was gorgeously decor

signal code bunting, palms, ferns
and green festoons.
Prof. Berger had a contingont of
tho Government band to supply
music. Tho grand promonado was
picturesque There was uot a vory
groat variety of characters, and tho
burlesque and grotesque predomi
nated. Yet tho spectacle pleased
tho spectators iu plain clothes, who
far outnumbered tho rovolors. A
group of negro minstrels, who took
a special prize, wore giving Bong and
danco exhibitions ou tholr own ac
count. Bosidcs the prizes won as
bolow, Adolino Madeira and J. Gou
salvcs took oxtra prizes. Refresh
ments wore served at midnight, bo
sides cool lemonades throughout.
