tho alien quostlon. I, liko many
others, think it is only a professed
anxiety, the same as the annexation
question. Anyone with tho slight

very well that the anuoxalion cry
was merely raised to catspaw the
United Stales aud orerawe the na

guised monarchy could make them
selves secure in easy billets with (at

were lighting to establish annexa

they were merely unconscious tools
of the Provisional Uoverumeut cum
missionary juuta. As one who be
lieves in making laws instead of
breaking them, 1 would suggest that
all ttie native population who are
eligible to vote under the present
capitalistic qualilicaiiou should re
gister at once and some good men
amongst tho natives who are eligi
ble for election to the Uouso of 1(
preseutatives should organize a po

working committees aud arouse the
native Hawaiian from the present
political apathy. 1 have no doubt
that some of thorn will have con
scientious scruples about taking the
oath ol allegiance to tho juuta rul
ing at present. To those 1 would
say, muko a convenience of it and
take the oath. The former oath of
allegiance was a parrot-cry to our
presout rulers like annexation till it
served their purpose to violate it.
'1 herefore, 1 would say to the native
Hawaiians, tight them with their
own weapons, aud it may be even
found uecesuary to form school
clubs when the native that has neg
lected his education so far may
qualify to vote, i. e., to read and
write uuderstaudiugly (sic). I won
der how mauT of the present oli

tbe science of government. I make
these suggestions because I think
that if ever the labor problem is to
be settled in this country it will
have to bo taken up by the working
white population and the native Ha
waiian, aud not by a Uovernmeut
which is little more than a sub-corn-mittee
of capitalists. The natives
cau rest assured that if evor they
make a legal attempt to establish a
representative form of Government,
whether it be a monarchy or a re
public, they will get the assistance
of a large number of the white
population. A JJuithlican.
