WORK AT THE WBECK.
Schooners Laboriously Kecoverina;
Iron from the Cargo.
The schooner Heels returned from
the wreck of the Geo. N. Wilcox last
midnight, having on her deck and
in her hold quite a quantity of cor
rugated iron roofing, railroad mate
rial and bags. Tho Heeia left the
wreck at 5 o'clock yesterday after
noon, with . B. Thomas as passen
ger. Those belonging to the schooner
state that they only worked three
days in order to secure tho cargo
they had on board. They could
have got more, but the two divers on
the schooner could not s'and the
strain. The divers worked between
7 and 11 o'clock in the mornings,
when tho current was comparatively
slack. About noon tho schooner
would go out to sea. There is nothing
more to be seen of the wreck abovo
water, but in calm weather tho wreck
and cargo are plainly visible under
water. The men had a hard time
hooking on to the heavy cases of
corrugated iron. They were fortu
nate, however, and only lost one
case, the bottom of which gave way
as it was being hoisted on board.
Along the sides of the hill, high and
dry, are scattered dry goods of all
descriptions, torn to shreds. The
port sido of the wreck is completely
gone and pieces of iron are strewn
along tho rocks. The Heeia will re
turn to the wreck when discharged,
with five or six divers. Tho Halea
kala was loft at anchor near the
wreck. She has also a quantity of
iron on uoaru.

tween London and Paris on tho
Egyptian question. DeCrais, am

Tho Czar of Russia has been sent
to tho Crimoa in tho hope of im
provement to hia health. One re
port about the Czar's condition, be
fore ho loft Spain, was that his con
dition was much worse. Thero was
excitemont ovor tho possibility of
his early doith, on account of tho
supposed favor of tho Czarowitch
for Gormany.
Four porsons wore killed and
many wounded in a bullfight in tho
liltlo town of Mof quito, Mexico.
Gormany is protesting at Wash

Goneral K.ota, brother of tho
fugitive President of Salvador, wont

A Grand Feature
Of Hood's Sarsnparilla is that whllo
it purifies the blood and sends it
coursing through tho veins full of
richness and health, it also inip.irts
new life aud vigor to every function
of the body, lluuco tho expression
so often heard: "Hood's Sarnparilla
mado a now person of mo." It over
comes that tlrud froliug so cmmon

Hood's Pills ore purely vegetable,
perfectly harmless, always roliublo

LUCOL :
18 THE
BEST
PAINT
OIL!
Save Half the Amount of Tour Oil
Bill Through Saving in Pigment.
Every painter should use Lucol in
stead of LinBticd Oil, because :
1. Lccol Is more durable than Linseed
Oil.
2. Lccol I more economcal than Lin
seed Oil.
PROOF THAT LUCOL 18 MORE
DURABLE.
Six years of actual use in exterior
houe painting in California (the
most trying climate for paints), in
tho burning heat of tho Arizona Des
ert, the Arctic cold of Alaska, and on
tho Atlantic coast, havo fully and
practically shown that Lucol always
outwears Linseed Oil under tho same
conditions. All the acid works in
Hun Francisco havo discarded Lin
seed Oil for Lucol.
ILLUSTRATE THIS YOURSELF.
Put strong ammonia on Linseed and
l.llrnl nttlnta Tlin T.lnyniwl tiuttita
nro destroyed in a few minutes; the
Lucol paints are practically unaffect
ed. PROOF THAT LUCOL IS MORE
ECONOMICAL.
Break up 1 lbs. paste white lead
in one pint of Lucol, and tho same
quantity in ono pint of Linseed Oil.
Spread tho paints on similar dark
surfaces for comparison. Tho Lucol
paint spreads as far as and covers
much better than the Linseed paint.
To get equally good covering with the
Linseed paint you havo to uo 2J lbs.
of whito lead to ono pint of Linseed
Oil. This means a saving of lb. of
pasto lead to each pint of Lucol used,
or 0 lbs. to every gallon, equivalent
to your saving more thau half tho
firBt cost of tho Lucol.
Lucol is not in competition with
cheap Linseed Oil substitutes.
