and declare those to bo our
Principles, and this tho Platform
of our Party:
1. Wo declare unequivocally that
tho foremost mission of tho Amorl
can Union Party shall continuo to
bo unreserved effort to securo the
Bolitical union of Hawaii with tho
nited States of America.
2. Wo cordially commend tho
efliolont, courageous and honorable
conduct of public affairs by tho ofll
cers of the Provisional Oovornment
and Ropublio of Hawaii.
U. We aro proud of the parly's
policy of internal Improvements and
development, and in vituea point
to the inauguration of exlensivo
public works, to practical projects
of similar nature, and to plans of
settlement for opou lands.
4. Wo oppose the employment of
prison labor in any mechanical pur
suit. 5. We aro opposod to tho employ
ment of Asiatics upon any public
0. We declare against the lm
poitatiuu of labor or material of any
kind whatover by tho Government.
7. Wo recommend that tho Gov
ernment at once tocuro absolute
ownership of all water front lauds
in every liarlwr throughout the
group whero tho possesafou of such
lands by otbor parties is detrimental
to necessary wharfago facilities.
8. Wo favor a rovision of tho tax
system, whereby all properly, im
proved or unimproved, shall be tax
ed on an cquitablo basis, and recom
mend a consideration of tho gradu
ated tax system.
0. Wo favor such legislation as
will promote tho occupancy of all
public lauds by small holders, and
foster the development of varied in
dustries, believing it to bo of vital
importance that "many acres should
be for many mon." Wo ask that
Hawaiians have tho opportunity to
secure homestoads upon more favor
able terms than granted to others.
10. We are in boarty sympathy
with tho spirit which actuated the
government in its dispatch of a com
missioner to search for European
labor for the industries of the Isl
ands; as a further earnest of the in
tent of the domiuant party in these
premises we refer to the creation of
the Labor Commission by the Coun
cils of tho Republic.
11. Wo pledge all tho power and
mtluonce this party may possess to
at once tho restriction of Asiatic im
migration. In this conuoction we
again point to the menace of Asiatio
encroachment, aud demand legisla
tive protection from these people for
Hawaiian, Amorican aud European
uecnames anu tradesmen.
12. We urge tho enactment at
once of a law that will cause the
Asiatics brought to these Islands for
plantation labor to continue in that
service, or return to their homes,
13 Wo demand such revision of
the Tariff as will prohibit competi
tion with Amorican products and
manufactures: oroteetion to which
America is justly entitled by virtue
of the Treaty of Reciprocity, aud
which we deem necessary to insure
the existence of our merchants, who
aro being rapidly superseded by an
element having nothing in common
with tho principles lying at the
foundation of our institutions.
14. We urge tho Government to
secure for the Islands cable commu
nication that no exclusive franchise
be granted, and that no agreement
or contract be mado which does not
meot with the unqualified approval
of the United States.
15. We ask that there be con
tinued effort in tho direction of ex
tending and improviug the system
of freo schools.
10. We declare our opposition to
Monopolies and Trusts of any kind.
17. We declare full allegiance to
the Ropublio of Hawaii, citing its
Constitution and tho present peace
ful condition of the country as work
of tho American Union Party.

PROOF THAT LUOOL IS MORE
Six years of actual use in exterior
house painting in California (the
most trying climate for paints), in
tho burning heat of the Arizona Des
ert, tho Arctic cold of Alaska, and on
tho Atlnnlio coast, have fully and
practically shown that Lucol alwaya
outwears Liueeed Oil under tho same
conditions. All tho acid works in
San Francisco have discarded Lin
seed Oil for Lucol.
ILLUSTRATE THIS YOURSELF.
Put strong ammonia on Linseed and
Lucol paints. Tho Linseed paints
aro destroyed in a fow minutes; the
Lucol paints are practically unaffect
ed. PROOF THAT LUOOL IS MORE
Break up 1 lbs. paste white lead
in ono pint of Luoot, and tho same
quantity In ono pint of Linseed Oil.
Spread tho paints on similar dark
surfaces for comparison. The Lucol
paint spreuds as far as and covers
much better than tho Linseed paint.
To got equally good covering with the
Linseed paint you liavo to uso i lbs.
of white lead to ono pint of Linseed
Oil. This means a saving of lb. of
paste lead to each pint of Lucol used,
or 0 lb, to every gallon, equivalent
to your saving mora than half the
first cost of the Lucol.
Lucol Is not in competition with
cheap Linseed Oil substitutes.
