Diuialilsou Smith of Philadelphia,
which started in June last to explore
the uiikuowu region, between 200
miles west of llerbera, the chief
town of that portion of Africa, aud
Lake Itudolph, where traces of civil
i.ntioii are believed to exist. Dr.
Smith, it appears, accompauied by
two Englishmen, early iu September
reached a larue stream believed to
be the Kre. They also explored tho
unknown country west of Milmll
