Mr. John A. 8cott, Manager of tho Hilo Sugar Company, gives tho follow
ing wonderful record of tho working of tho NATIONAL CANE SI1HED
DER, which was erected by their works at tho comnieuccmcnt of the crop
"During tho past week tho Hilo Sugar Company's mill exceeded any of
its former records bv closing tho 125 hours grinding witli an output of 300J
tons. This is fully 10 percent more than Iho best work of former years.
"Tho three roller mill being 20 in. by 54 in. and tho two roller mill 30 in.
by 60 in. Iho first mill doing tills amount of work in an efficient manner
and with great oaso, compared with work on whole cano, owing to thorough
preparation of tho cano by tho National Cano Shredder, teccutly erected by
" And by its use tho extraction has been increased from 3 percent to 6 per
cent on all kinds of cane, and in some cases 80 percent has been reached ;
the avorago being 75 to 78 percent, according to quality.

given me entire satisfaction, having shredded during that lime about seventy
