was given a list ol captains; ami
only one captain was there; there
were 10 men at Kaalawai and 10 men
at lCuhala; it was told wituess that

them; heard later that the first
squad had a fight between them
selves, each wanting to lo the leader;
Lot Lane had taken three men and
wauled to carry out the orders aud
capture the police themselves; somu

shortly after there was firing; wit

that tho police had tired first, aud

knew that everything was up, as the
firing would bo reported in town;

the highest point of Diamond Head
and three on the mauka side; wituess

ises that there was an engagement

noon the government troops began
shelling the place, aud the men were

the natives, and witness thought it
