The Machine Outs Oft" the End and
Lights tho Cigar.
It's a wonderful labor-saving do
vico for smokers that an employe of
a New York hotel has had patented.
It loaves nothing to bo desired, says
tho New York Herald.
It is a machine that cuts a cigar
neatly, lights it, draws a fow puffs on
it, aud deposits it on a tray all ready
for instant use.
"Soino persons think thoro is a
little too much of tho machine," tho
inventor said to mo recently, "but I
boliovo iu having things complete-
I and up to dato in every way, manuer,
I and form. You drop your cigar in a
slot. It falls on a little platform.
A spring knifo cuts off tho tip. TJicn
it drops down and ono ond fits into
a tiny holo which communicates
with a cylinder of compressed air.
At tho samo timo tho other end
comes in contact with a small gas
jot. Tho air draws on tho cigar,
puffs it two or three times, until it
gets a good start. Then your light
ed cigar rolls down this little inclin
ed piano and drops on tho tray all
ready for business. Will I have a
slot arrangement so a man by drop
ping a coin can get a 5 or lOcout
cigar already lighted? Ileally, I
hadn't thought of it. Do you think
it would bo a good schemel"

from a cheap glass, because it may have the same amount of
